It is a curious thing, the death of a loved one. We all know that our time in this world is limited, and that eventually all of us will end up underneath some sheet, never to wake up. And yet it is always a surprise when it happens to someone we know. It is like walking up the stairs to your bedroom in the dark, and thinking there is one more stair than there is. Your foot falls down, through the air, and there is a sickly moment of dark surprise as you try and readjust the way you thought of things.

Have you ever really held the hand of someone you love? Not just in passing, a loose link between you - but truly clasped, with the pulses of your wrists beating together and your fingers mapping the knuckles and nails like a cartographer learning a country by heart?

Short and Simple.: 'I trust you, just not everyone else.'

thepocket-sizedchink:

This is what my parents used to tell me when I wanted to hang out with friends or go out.  And in a sense, I didn’t understand why they said that.  But they were protecting me from heartbreak.  From failed relationships, from friends coming and going, from bitches who wanted to see me fall, and from haters.  They knew that it was coming and they only wanted to protect me.  It took all those things for me to learn that I can’t really trust everyone.  There are people who will backstab you and talk shit about you because they just don’t like you.  Sometimes its not even your fault that they don’t like you.  You can’t trust everyone you see because you never know what they could do to you.  My parents tried to warn me of that.  and i had to wait for people to treat me badly, to talk about me behind my back, to try and put me down for me to finally learn that my parents were right.
